About UYOT

United Yoruba of Tulsa Association is a non-profit Organization with a primary purpose to promote the quality of life of the people of Yoruba Land. Preserve and support the cultural heritage, render humanitarian assistance, encourage community development and growth as well as mobilize the sons, daughters, and friends of Yoruba land to join us in community building and services to our people and our great land.

The United Yoruba of Tulsa as an association takes pride in community projects by giving high priority to community development projects as part of her social responsibilities. The association through it’s several mechanisms put in place to raise funds for these projects has done a lot in community development and is not sitting on her haunches but with the determination of doing more through Charitable Donations from individuals, corporate bodies and government agencies and members’ internal fundraising programs.

Our Mission

United Yoruba of Tulsa is organized exclusively for charitable, social and educational purposes as a non-profit organization. This organization is set up as exempt from federal income tax under section 501 © (3) of the Internal Revenue code of 1954 and the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue law. Our mission include following:

To embark on programs that will create and promote unity among all Yoruba in Tulsa area.

To promote the economic, education, social and political development of Yoruba land and the general welfare of the Yoruba in Tulsa.

To act and support collectively in time of need and emergency on affairs that affect our members and community.

To promote, educate and maintain good names, image, and culture of Yoruba people.

To disseminate relevant information received from Yoruba land to its members in Tulsa area.

To engage in other activities in support of the charitable organization or affiliated cultural group and act in issuing an opinion on matters that affect Yoruba people.

To participate in programs that demonstrate our organization as a role model by sponsoring one or more of the followings: scholarship programs, hospital either in the US or Nigeria.
